Edit the text in a PDF the way you'd edit it in a word processor
Most of the time you don't need a full PDF suite. You need to fix a date, change a name or fill in a form. pdfEdits does exactly that: click the text, type, and download. The new text keeps the original font, size, color and position, and your file never leaves your computer.
What makes pdfEdits different
Click text, type, done
Every line of text in your PDF is editable in place: select a word, retype a sentence, use the arrow keys, Backspace and Undo just like in a word processor.
- Your new text is written with the font embedded in the PDF, at the same size, color and position.
- PDFs often include only the letters they originally used. Any new letter the file doesn't contain comes from a matching standard font of the same weight and style, and pdfEdits shows you which letters, before you save.
Real edits, not white boxes
Many editors hide old text under a white rectangle and type over it, leaving the original words in the file. pdfEdits removes the old text from the page, so it can't be copied, searched or recovered.
Fill any form
Interactive forms work as expected: text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons and dropdowns. Flat forms work too: click a printed line like Name: ______ and type. Your text sits on the line and the line stays.
Private by design
Contracts, tax forms, medical paperwork: they stay on your device. pdfEdits opens, edits and saves files inside your browser, with no server involved.
Free, without the catches
No account, no watermark, no daily limit, no "upgrade to download".
How to edit a PDF in three steps
- Open your PDF: drop it on the page or press Open PDF.
- Click any text to edit it, or click a form field or printed line to fill it in. Press Enter to finish, Esc to cancel.
- Download PDF. You get a normal PDF that opens anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. pdfEdits opens, edits and saves your PDF entirely inside your browser. The file never leaves your device, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
Will the edited text match the original font?
As closely as the PDF allows. pdfEdits reuses the font embedded in the PDF at the same size, color and position. Many PDFs embed only the letters they originally used; any new letter the file doesn't contain is written in a matching standard font (Times, Helvetica or Courier, same weight and style). While you type, pdfEdits tells you exactly which letters that applies to.
Is the old text really removed?
Yes. The original text is removed from the page and the new text is written in its place. It isn't hidden under a white box. (The one exception: text that's part of an embedded graphic is covered and retyped, and pdfEdits tells you when that happens.)
What if my new text is longer than the old text?
It keeps its exact size and simply extends. PDFs don't reflow like word processor documents, so the following lines don't move.
Can I fill forms that have no form fields?
Yes. pdfEdits detects printed lines such as Name: ______. Click one and type: your text sits on the line, sized to match the label next to it, and the line stays in place.
Can I edit scanned PDFs?
Not yet. A scanned page is a picture of text, not text. You can still type on its lines. Text recognition for scans is planned.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Not at the moment. Locked PDFs can't be changed in the browser without the password and permission to edit.
Is pdfEdits free?
Yes. Free, no sign-up, no watermark and no page limits.
